Big Bend Poets & Writers at Square Mug Cafe

Presented by Big Bend Poets & Writers at Square Mug Cafe and Coffee Shop

Square Mug Café and Big Bend Poets are happy to announce that Terry Galloway will be our featured poet at Square Mug Café on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 P.M.

Terry Galloway is perhaps best known in Tallahassee as the beloved, or sometimes best avoided “cigar-puffing, foul-mouth, beer-guzzling stinking rat that is Mickee Faust” and who is often found at the Mickee Faust Club in Railroad Square Art Park.  But many of Mickee Faust’s fans may not know that Terry is also a poet, playwright, and writer of substantial accomplishments!

In that persona she published, with Curbstone Press, her first proverbial slim volume of verse, the unfortunately named Buncha Crocs in Surch of Snac.  She has also written (and performed) four solo performance pieces.  Her six-character musical In the House of the Moles made its European debut in Liverpool before touring the UK. Her theater pieces have been published in their entirety or in excerpted form in various anthologies of monologues for actors.  Her solo show, Lardo Weeping is now being transformed into an opera by Austin Texas composer Peter Stopschinski working with the LOLA opera company. She has also published a number of personal essays in magazines, books and newspapers many of which been anthologized, most recently in the forthcoming Contemporary Creative Nonfiction. Her memoir, Mean Little deaf Queer, published by Beacon Press, was a Lambda Award finalist and a winner of the Gold Crown Award for LGBTQ Non-Fiction. For her writing she has won grants and awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
