Based on a true story and nominated for two Oscars, the film follows Lee Israel (Oscar-nominated Melissa McCarthy), a struggling writer who quickly finds out how valuable celebrity letters are. Along with the help of her friend, Jack Hock (Oscar-nominated Richard E. Grant), the two begin forging letters in order to pay the bills and stay relevant.
