Hispanic Night at the Cottage will be a wonderful cultural event of live music, poetry, refreshments, and a monologue from the great Spanish playwright Paloma Pedrero, “From Mary to Mary.” November 7-8, 8:00PM (English) November 10, 6:00PM (Spanish)
Hispanic Night at the Cottage will be an exciting night of live music, poetry readings, refreshments, theater, and community. The event will be held in the Jubilee Cottage at Goodwood Museum & Gardens.
The centerpiece of this unique cultural event will be a performance of the monologue "From Mary to Mary" by the great Spanish playwright Paloma Pedrero. The monologue tells the story of the love between a mother and her infant and the passing of knowledge from generation to generation. In this case, the character is Mary Wollstonecraft, 18th-century author and feminist, speaking to her new-born daughter, Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein.
For the first time in Tallahassee Hispanic Theater history, we will be presenting one of our three performances entirely in Spanish, for the benefit of the Spanish-speaking community, Spanish learners, and those who want to experience the material in its original language. With this new offering, we are hoping to open the doors to more members of our community and create stronger bonds across languages and cultures!
Performances will be held:
November 7-8, 8:00PM (English)
November 10, 6:00PM (Spanish)
Tickets are on sale now through Eventbrite. The link can be found on our website, tallahasseehispanictheater.org. Tickets are $10 per person and include admission to the event.
