Big Bend Poets & Writers of Tallahassee, in collaboration with the new ownership of Square Mug Cafe, (formerly Black Dog Cafe) is pleased to announce the second in a monthly series of poetry. The public and any and all poets are invited to come and read a poem or two at the open mic, which will come after our featured poet’s presentation. Our featured poet is Ginny Grimsley.
Ginny Grimsley received her PhD in English and creative writing (poetry) from the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Writers, and has been a writing teacher in many venues including four years as a visiting professor in creative writing at FSU. Her career has been diverse, but she always goes back to writing and the healing that takes place through the free expression of self that it provides. Her current project is an experimentation in poetry, performance art, listening, and healing through her Poem Store in Tallahassee’s Downtown Market where she hand writes custom poems in under 4 minutes for her clients. This project reveals the healing properties of poetry and its power to connect people
FREE.
