Directed by FSU alumni Xabier Climent and Aaron Kudja, the film tells the story of the community of Mariana, Puerto Rico as a historic example of community mutual aid after Hurricane Maria.

The screening will be followed by a Panel Discussion regarding the current situation of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and as an unincorporated U.S. territory.
PANELISTS:
• Rafael Romo: Senior Latin American Affairs Editor of CNN
Worldwide and anchor for CNN Español. He was a special correspondent in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and during the protests after the Roselló scandal.
• Jeannine Murray-Román: Assistant Professor of French and
Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University, specializing in comparative Caribbean literatures and cultures.
• Bryan Koon: Former Director at the Florida Division of Emergency
Management and serves as IEM’s Vice President of Homeland
Security and Emergency Management.
• Xabier Climent Belda, FSU Alumni, Director of the documentary, and works for CNN Technical Operations.
Moderated by Malia Bruker, Assistant Professor at FSU School of Communication, and Documentary Filmmaker.
