Easterseals: All Abilities, Limitless Possibilities

Easterseals: All Abilities, Limitless Possibilities

Presented by Arts for the Community at Thomas University at Thomas University Art Gallery, Magnolia Campus, Student Life Building

During the 2018-19 academic year, Associated Professor of Art, Rich Curtis, and his Thomas University students lent their efforts to arts service projects to benefit local nonprofit organizations. As part of this initiative, Curtis invited Easterseals to visit the studio and work alongside students in his art classes, exploring drawing, painting, and sculpting. Each participant was able to express himself or herself in unique ways. When the spring semester ended, Curtis and the Easterseals participants wanted to continue working together exploring the various talents of each individual. So, they did!

During the summer of 2019, the group from Easterseals met regularly with Professor Curtis at the Thomas University Art Lab. For Curtis, this project naturally fit within the larger mission of ACTU, to engage with the wider community through creative expression.

This project was also made possible by the tireless efforts of Carmen Pittman. Carmen is the Lead Staff at Easterseals of Thomasville. She facilitates the day-to-day transportation and activities at Easterseals. Carmen’s dedication to the enrichment of her clients is inspiring, and her passion for them is infectious.

Easterseals clients created all the artwork on display. Their work will be exhibited during the month of August at the Thomas County Public Library prior to taking up residence at the Thomas University Art Gallery on September 3rd through November 7thA silent auction will take place during the closing reception on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 6-7:30pm.
