The silent horror masterpiece from 1921 gets an eclectic new mixtape soundtrack to delight, amuse, and terrify for one special night at the movies.
AllSaints Cinema and Silent Nights are proud to present a special screening of the 1921 classic silent film Nosferatu, with an imaginative and unpredictable assembly of music and sound effects curated by Burlap Productions. Sound designer and music supervisor Glenn Swan has worked for many years in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto providing what he calls a 'mixtape for the script' in live theatre settings. Now, for the first time, he brings his ears to the screen with F.W. Murnau's vampire masterpiece, adapted loosely from Bram Stoker's Dracula.
The terror, humor, obsession, romance, sacrifice and madness all come to the surface with a mind-bending Nosfer-iTunes soundtrack that includes neo-classical, jazz, 70's TV soundtracks, rock, electronica, avant garde, R&B, metal, pop, exotica and more. Combined with stylish cinematography and Max Schreck's memorable performance as the vampire, it's no wonder that - for close to 100 years - Nosferatu has been praised for its influence on not just horror, but moviemaking as a whole.
