Season Opener, first concert of the 2019-20 Concert Season for The Artist Series of Tallahassee, Sunday, September 15, 4 pm, Opperman Hall, FSU.
We invite you to attend the first concert of our 25th Anniversary, 2019-20 Concert Series for The Artist Series of Tallahassee, featuring Tapestry, vocal ensemble: Cristi Catt, Soprano; Laurie Monahan, mezzo-soprano; Daniela Tošić, alto; with Nikolai Radan, flute and Arsentiy Kharitonov, piano. Their program is entitled Beyond Boundaries: Songs of Hope and Peace featuring music by Bartok, Debussy, Ravel, Boulanger, and Poulenc. Beyond Boundaries draws on Tapestry’s 100th-anniversary Armistice Day tour that concluded on November 11, 2018 at the National Gallery in Washington DC. Tapestry shapes this new program inspired by early 20th-century impressionists. After WW1, the influence of the impressionists spread throughout the world. Bartok wrote "Debussy's great service to music was to reawaken among all musicians an awareness of harmony and its possibilities." Tapestry's program travels beyond boundaries and throughout time to explore themes of love, beauty, and peace.
