Longineu Parsons & Ted Shumate – 21 Blue CD Release Party

Longineu has performed and recorded with such greats as Cab Calloway, Nat Adderley, Nat Adderley Jr., Cecil Taylor, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Herbie Mann, Philly Joe Jones, Kenny Werner, Frank Foster, Mal Waldron, Archie Shepp, Sun Ra, Sam Rivers, David Murray, Billy Harper, and many others. He has been hailed by critics internationally as being one of the world’s finest trumpet players, and as protégé of the great cornetist Nat Adderley, Longineu expands the gospel as a multi-instrumentalist performing on  the trumpet, flugel horn, African recorder, flute, multiple percussions and vocals.

Longineu has had the honor of performing as a soloist for a variety of international symphonies and orchestras.  He has been a clinician at high schools and universities, most notably, the Conservatoire Nationale de France and the Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga (Colombia). He is currently Professor of Music at Florida A&M University where he teaches Trumpet and Composition.

Ted Shumate:

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Ted Shumate has performed and/or recorded with some of the most famous musicians in the history of jazz and blues, such as: Nat Adderley for 10 years, Ira Sullivan, Red Rodney, Jimmy Cobb, Kenny Drew Jr., Joey Barron, Peter Erskine, Branford Marsalis, Lucky Peterson, Sonny Fortune, Larry Willis, Al DiMeola, Jeff Berlin, Walter Booker, Chip McNeill, Kenny Werner, Garry Dial, Gumbi Ortiz, Longineu Parsons, Wynton Marsalis, Gonzalo Mico and many others.

Ted has been a guitar professor at Northwest Florida State College, and at Gulf Coast State College where was also the director of the jazz band and taught jazz improvisation courses. Shumate also taught at the prestigious Guitar Institute Of Technoloy at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.
