Hair tells the story of the "tribe", a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the "Age of Aquarius" living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves, and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Ultimately, Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or to succumb to the pressures of his parents (and conservative America) to serve in Vietnam, compromising his pacifist principles and risking his life.

Hair is a co-production of Theatre Tallahassee and New Stage Theatreworks and not part of Theatre Tallahassee's season.

Join us for The Happening! The audience is encouraged to enter the space 30 minutes before curtain to experience a one of a kind, never duplicated event that will include live music, dance, art, poetry, tarot card readings, games, and much more. The audience is invited to join in the fun or simply sit and watch the Hippies play!

WARNING: This production will include hippies cursing, smoking pot, getting naked, mocking societal conventions, meditating, taking LSD, flaunting their sexuality, celebrating their race, creating a happening, singing and dancing. Come to the be-in. It is suggested that no one under age 14 be admitted.
