The House of Jean-Rene by James Webb

The House of Jean-Rene by James Webb

Presented by Irene C. Edmonds Youth Theatre at Charles Winter Wood Theatre

Webb’s original drama profiles a contemporary Seattle family who rents a house in the French Quarter. The house, once owned by Le Gems de Couleur—free people of color —, is rumored to be haunted by members of the 19th century family who experienced great tragedy in 1803 on the eve of the Louisiana Purchase.

The lives of both families intertwine as the temporary occupants questions whether the teenage son actually sees the resident ghosts.  Complete with a New Orleans style second line tradition, “The House of Jean-Rene” ghastly explores how one act of envy ripples across centuries.
