Join us between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 6, for Backyard Discovery at The Grove Museum!

Backyard Discovery connects you to the natural and cultural history of the site through hands-on science activities. For July's program, we're bringing back one of our favorite and most successful themes: I'm Lichen It! Visitors will learn to distinguish between lichens and mosses and discover the roles that lichens play in nature. Together, we will search for lichens at The Grove Museum, learn how lichens can be used to monitor air pollution, and discover why some lichens glow under UV light.

This program is designed for families with elementary and middle school aged children, but all are welcome to participate. Be prepared to be outdoors, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring along sunscreen and bug spray.

Backyard Discovery at The Grove is FREE and open to the public.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds after the program, and tour the museum from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
