Lydia Nabors, archivist with the State Archives of Florida, discusses some of the hidden gems to be found in the archives.
The State Archives of Florida collect historically valuable documents in order to preserve the information for future generations. Often these documents are correspondence between governmental officials or examples of professionals sharing their opinions with the current administration. Little gems shine brightly between these records—those of the children voicing their own concerns to the Governor’s office. This small exploration into children’s voices found in the archives sheds light on the junior citizens in our society and how they capture historic moments in their correspondence.
