Pen, Paint, POP!: Local Comics and Cartoon Exhibition

Pen, Paint, POP!: Local Comics and Cartoon Exhibition

Presented by Panama City Center for the Arts at Panama City Center for the Arts

In Panama City Center for the Arts’ lower gallery, the Miller Gallery, Pen, Paint, POP!: Local Comics and Cartoon Exhibit, will feature drawings and paintings by local artists.

All three new exhibitions at the Center for the Arts will open on June 8, with an opening reception on Friday, June 7, at 6pm. At the reception, visitors will get a sneak peak at the new exhibitions, meet local artists featured in the local cartoonist and comics show, and snack on light refreshments.

At 7pm that night, the Center for the Arts will also have a screening of the documentary Stripped in their main gallery. Stripped brings together the world’s best cartoonists to talk about the art form they love, and what is happening to it as newspapers die. The documentary explores comic strips in depth, why they’re so loved, and how the artists are navigating this dicey period between print and pixels.

The two lower gallery exhibitions, Laughing Redheadand Pen, Paint, POP!: Local Comics and Cartoon Exhibit will close on July 5th, while the main gallery exhibition, The Art of Florida Cartoonists, will remain open until July 20.
