Identifying Inclusivity, Equality, Equity & Privilege in Ballet's Training & Culture

Presented by CORPS de Ballet International at Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre

FSU School of Dance is pleased to announce it will be hosting the 21st annual CORPS de Ballet International Conference - Identifying Inclusivity, Equality, Equity and Privilege in Ballet’s Training and Culture - July 9-12 in Tallahassee, FL. This event will take place at the School of Dance on FSU's campus at 130 Collegiate Loop.

CORPS is comprised of ballet and dance faculty who teach in higher education, conservatories and dance studios. Its mission is to promote the development, exploration, and advancement of ballet in higher education. The CORPS conference will boast scholarly presentations, movement sessions, and choreographic showings.

The conference opens with a Lifetime Achievement Award dinner on Monday July 8th. This year’s recipient is Ms. Virginia Johnson, currently Artistic Director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem and former principal dancer.

Over 20 years ago retired FSU Dance Professor Richard Sias realized the need to support young developing artists and professors, and address issues in ballet. From that initial idea CORPS has evolved into an internationally recognized organization presenting conferences throughout the U.S. as well as Paris, Toronto, and Florence.
