Hands-on science activities for families with elementary and middle school aged children.
Join us between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, for Backyard Discovery: Neighbors Beneath Our Feet.
Backyard Discovery connects you to the natural and cultural history of The Grove through hands-on science activities. June's program, Neighbors Beneath Our Feet, is all about bugs!
Visitors will learn about the role of soil as a habitat for arthropods (bugs) and other fauna. Together, we will explore soil food webs and learn why bugs are important. This is your chance to explore species diversity in different soil and compost types found across the property and get up close and personal with some of our tiniest neighbors.
This program is designed for families with elementary and middle school aged children, but all are welcome to participate. Be prepared to be outdoors, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring along sunscreen.
Get ready for a whole day of family fun! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the lawn and tour the museum from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Parking is located at 902 N. Monroe Street. Backyard Discovery at The Grove Museum is free and open to the public.
