Pat will be reading from her recently published collection of poetry, Proverbs of My Seasons, which is a meditation on love, friendship, nature, religion, personal identity, and some seriously fun things that naturally occur in a person’s life. Saundra Kelley says, “…Stanford shares the uneven, and sometimes turbulent journey from youth to maturity. To read these mostly rhyming poems is to recall one’s own path through life.” Stanford is an active member of both Tallahassee poetry groups: Poetry for The Love of It and Big Bend Poets & Writers and is President of the Tallahassee Writers Association for 2019.

Pat lives in Tallahassee with her husband, dog, and a quirky cat. She is working on another volume of poetry and a fol­low-up non-fiction to her award-winning book, Fixing Boo Boo.

Our host, Linda Marie, holds an MFA in painting with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of South Florida, and a BFA from the University of Hawaii. She is a symbolist painter, writer, poet, and playwright. Linda Marie’s poetry has been published in The Texas Observer, Hawaii Review, Blue Hole, and Enigmatist among other poetry publications, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Before moving to Tallahassee recently, she was the host of Austin Poetry Society’s monthly poetry venue for 6 years. She is excited to be the new host of My Favorite Books’ poetry and storytelling open mic, and is looking forward to meeting and introducing many local poets, storytellers, and writers!
