Musicircus Florida at the FSU Museum of Fine Arts

Presented by Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts at Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University

This April, The Florida State University School of Dance in conjunction with the Merce Cunningham Trust, the FSU College of Music, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Student Life Cinema will be hosting a series of Cunningham Centennial Celebrations as part of a global celebration of the life and work of one of the greatest American dance artists, Merce Cunningham. The events are intended to give a broad audience the opportunity to experience the range of Cunningham’s work and process and extend his impact into the future.

The week of events will open with Musicircus Florida at the Museum of Fine Arts. Scored by Maestro Stephen Montague in the model of Merce Cunningham's and John Cage's collaborative "happenings," Musicircus Florida is the Florida premiere of a dynamic, multidisciplinary work based on chance operations and intermixing approximately 100 performers: musicians, dancers, artists, actors, poets, acrobats, and film. The event takes place from 6:00 to 8:02 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the FSU Museum of Fine Arts (530 West Call Street). This event is FREE and open to the public.  For more information, please contact Preston McLane (pmclane@fsu.edu).
