This year’s tour promises to be a showcase of some of Tallahassee’s finest landscapes and features six residential gardens in addition to a unique new community garden space.
The day starts Saturday, May 18, at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast on the lawn at the garden entrance inside beautiful Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. At 10 a.m. those in attendance will receive a booklet containing brief descriptions and directions to the gardens that are being featured on the 2019 Tour. Tour-goers may then proceed on their own self-driven tour of the gardens where docents from the Leon County Master Gardener program will be on hand to answer any questions.
Proceeds from the Tour of Gardens will go to help the Friends of Maclay Gardens in their financial and volunteer support of Maclay Gardens State Park. Among the many initiatives of the Friends of Maclay in 2019 is financial support in an extensive upgrading of the aging and somewhat inefficient irrigation system within the historic gardens.
: Advance tickets, $30; day of event, $35; $5.00 discount for Friends of Maclay Gardens. Tickets can be purchased online at http://friendsofmaclaygardens.org or at Esposito’s Garden Center, Native Nurseries, Tallahassee Nurseries, Wild Birds Unlimited, and the Ranger station located at the entrance of the State Park - cash or check only at these Locations.
