BUDDHA - Universal Ambassador of Peace - 1st show

BUDDHA - Universal Ambassador of Peace - 1st show

Presented by NAVARASA at Lincoln High School Auditorium

BUDDHA, name and the most common image of Buddha in meditative posture bring tranquility to mind.  Synonymous with peace, Buddha - the enlightened one, was born as Prince Gautama to King Suddhodhana and Maya devi.  Showing compassion from childhood, Gautama befriends Chenna though he doesn\'t belong to royal family.  He undergoes training in all princely skills along with his cruel cousin.  As a mighty prince with a kind heart, competing with several kings and emperors and winning in the royal sports, he wins the heart and hand of Princess Yasodhara.

One day, succumbing to a call from his inner voice, Gautama steps out of palace and sees realities in life, namely hunger, sickness, old age and death.   Deserting his family including new born son, he sets out in search of truth behind the miseries of life.  Not ready to accept the paths shown by learned men of times, he treads on his own path of penance withstanding all temptations and distractions leading to enlightenment.

All the kings and emperors follow the new path shown by him thus he becomes emperor of emperors and universal ambassador of peace.

BUDDHA is a play depicting life and teachings of Gautama Buddha.  An audio visual extravaganza, first of the two shows on Saturday March 30, at 3:00 PM in Lincoln High School auditorium is a fundraiser for Hindu Temple of Tallahassee and is a ticketed event.

Second show is on April 20,2019 at McGuire Hall in Westminster Oaks is a special show for residents of Westminster Oaks but is open to public and free.
