Luella Knott made her home a place of learning and creativity. Literary societies met here, members read their own writings and those of others, and she displayed examples of her whimsical poetry throughout her home. Today, our summer poetry workshop carries on this tradition. With imaginative activities, young people refine their writing skills, read and evaluate poetry, and find their own voice as a poet. Participants share their work with family and friends during an evening poetry reading that includes a published local poet. The cost is $55 for members or $70 for nonmembers. Pre- and post-workshop supervision is available for a small additional fee. Contact beatrice.cotellis@dos.myflorida.com.For more information: 850.922.2459.
Participants attend all week at Knott House Museum, 301 E. Park Avenue, Tallahassee 32301. Join the Friends of the Museums of Florida History to receive member prices.
