La Florida Becomes Florida USA

Presented by Theater with a Mission at Governor Martin House

On February 22, 1819 -- 200 years ago -- the Adams-Onís Treaty transformed Florida from Spanish province to US territory. What did this Treaty mean for citizens of Spanish Florida, the US, and Native American tribes?  Come find out!

Theater with a Mission takes you behind the scenes to hear how people from history thought, dreamed, and argued about Florida in transition.  Catch a sneak preview of 3 scenes from a brand-new play in development called Florida for Sale.

"La Florida Becomes Florida USA!" is scheduled for Friday, February 22, 2019, 6pm – 9pm, at the historic Governor Martin House in Tallahassee.

This event commemorates the 200th Anniversary of the a milestone in Florida's history by highlighting the beautiful Tapestry of Cultures in our state’s past and present with drama, music, food, and expert speakers.

The Keynote Speaker will be Tallahassee Author and Architect, Deborah Desilets.

In addition to Theater with a Mission's sneak preview from Florida for Sale, we will also have musical entertainment and catered heavy hors d’oeuvres.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to two Tallahassee based non-profit organizations: Theater with a Mission (www.theaterwithamission.com) and Girls to Divas Mentorship Program Inc. (www.girls2divas.org)
