Open Mic with Hot Tamale

Open Mic with Hot Tamale

Presented by My Favorite Books at My Favorite Books

We welcome you to come in on Tuesday March 5th beginning at 7:00pm. Sign up on arrival for a ten-minute spot to share your original poetry, prose, song, or story or bring a selection from your favorite poet/author. Or come make a new friend, and just listen.

Admission is free, and during the event, all cash and credit card purchases will be 10% off, and poetry books will be 15% off!

Hot Tamale is an upbeat acoustic duo with Adrian Fogelin, award-winning novelist and community organizer, and Craig Reeder, retired accounting instructor at FAMU.   They are known for their lively family-friendly performances at festivals and events around the Big Bend, and their original songs have gotten airplay on radio stations in Australia, Britain and the U.S. Recently one of their fans said, “I listened to your CD and I love the singing, playing and just plain joy of hearing folksy music!  You definitely sing folk culture with a great sense of spirit and humor.”

Our host, Linda Marie, holds an MFA in painting with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of South Florida, and a BFA from the University of Hawaii. She is a symbolist painter, writer, poet, and playwright. Linda Marie’s poetry has been published in The Texas Observer, Hawaii Review, Blue Hole, and Enigmatist among other poetry publications, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Before moving to Tallahassee recently, she was the host of Austin Poetry Society’s monthly poetry venue for 6 years. She is excited to be the new host of My Favorite Books’ poetry and storytelling open mic, and is looking forward to meeting and introducing many local poets, storytellers, artists and writers!
