Join us in the first of our 2019 Backroads/Backrooms Series as we have a great lunch at Soho in Thomasville, then try our hand at pounding molton metal in a well-appointed smithy.
Artist craftsman Craig Hines started blacksmithing about ten years ago while living in Kentucky with his wife, Marcia. Now set up in Ochlocknee, she maintains a pottery studio while he uses traditional techniques featuring a 100-year-old forge and a 385-pound German anvil.
One might imagine Craig as a rough-and-burly, but his day job as the Miss Kitty’s Spay and Neuter Clinic veterinarian softens the edge.
Join us in the first of our 2019 Backroads/Backrooms Series as we head out to the country to learn about the ancient art of ironworking. After a wonderful lunch at Soho on Broad in Thomasville, we’ll try our hand at pounding molton metal in a well-appointed smithy while Craig forges several pieces before our eyes. Wine and treats round out the day just in time for Thomasville’s First Friday. This CNS-sponsored event kicks off Miss Kitty’s 2019 Cats in Bow Ties.
