Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II musical, SOUTH PACIFIC. Winner of 10 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, will open at the Quincy Music Theatre on Thursday night February 14th.
This ground-breaking musical based on James A. Michener’s 1927 Pulitzer Prize-winning book Tales of the South Pacific, features such iconic hits as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, and I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair.
The plot centers on an American nurse, Nellie Forbush (Stefanie Svisco) stationed on a South Pacific island during World War II who falls in love with a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner Emile de Becque (Ken Lambert) but struggles to accept his mixed-race children. A parallel plot line follows a young American G.I. Lt. Joe Cable (Andrew Busenlener) who faces his own prejudices when he discovers love with a young Liat (Emily Copeland).
Shows for the first weekend are: Thursday Feb. 14th, Friday 15th and Saturday 16th at 7:30 P.M. Sunday matinee at 2:30 P.M. The following weekend shows are: Friday Feb 22nd and Saturday Feb. 23rd nights at 7:30 P.M. with a Saturday Feb 23rd and Sunday Feb 24th Matinees at 2:30 P.M.
