Celebrate Black History Month with Leon County at the African American Read-In on Sunday, February 10 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Collins Main Library. The event promotes diversity in literature, and shines light on African American authors.
Throughout the afternoon attendees can visit break-out sessions featuring Young Adult, Literature, Fiction and Non-Fiction and Urban Fiction genres. Selections to be highlighted include poems, fiction and nonfiction books, song lyrics, plays and speeches. Attendees are encouraged to join the various facilitated discussions about the impact of African American literature while sharing favorites and impressions.
The event will also feature a children’s corner for young patrons to hear classic children's books by African American authors.
