Motion & Mood Pictures - TSO Season Finale

Motion & Mood Pictures - TSO Season Finale

Presented by Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

This knockout season finale presents music related to “pictures,” both motion and mood. Bernard Hermann and Erich Korngold were both master film-score composers, and although the latter’s Violin Concerto was not specifically written for the cinema, it deeply inhabits the sound world of the silver screen. Holst’s iconic The Planets, which he described as “ a series of mood pictures,” was born from the composer’s fleeting interest in astrology, and has become one of the most oft-performed and beloved orchestral pieces. Stunning live visuals from NASA media compiled by Adrian Wyard will accompany the TSO’s performance of The Planets.

Featuring violinist, William Hagen

Hermann, Vertigo Suite
Korngold, Violin Concerto, Op. 35
Holst, The Planets, Op. 32
