On the Steps of History: Florida’s Inaugurations invites visitors to take a look back at a special moment shared between Florida’s new first families, cabinet officials, and the people of Florida. Explore the activities of a typical inauguration day including the traditional ceremonies, inaugural speech highlights, and the parade through stories from past elected officials. Rarely-seen photos and artifacts including formal wear from inaugural balls and galas from both private and public collections will be on display through March 10, 2019.On the Steps of History: Florida’s Inaugurations memorializes past inaugurations and shines a light on traditions surrounding the transfer of power to the next governor and cabinet.

Parking Info

The Historic Capitol is located in the Capitol Complex, at the intersection of Apalachee Parkway and South Monroe Street. Although the museum does not have dedicated parking, there are several parking lots in the area. There is a large public parking garage in Kleman Plaza, close to the Capitol Complex. When the legislature is in session, parking can be especially challenging. Spaces for visitors with disabilities are located on west side of the House Office Building in the north side loading zone.
