Backyard Discovery at The Grove Museum

Presented by The Grove Museum at The Grove Museum

Join us at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 3, for Backyard Discovery at The Grove.

Backyard Discovery connects you to the natural and cultural history of the site through hands-on science activities. In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, November's program is on ethnobotany: the study of uses, knowledge, and customs surrounding plants. Together, we will explore the historical uses of several native plants in the context of local and regional tribes. Visitors will also learn the science behind why those plants have proven so valuable in construction, fiber arts, food, and culture.

This program is designed for families with elementary and middle school aged children, but all are welcome to participate. Be prepared to be outdoors, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring along sunscreen and bug spray.

Backyard Discovery at The Grove is free and open to the public. Come and go as you please anytime between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds after the program, and tour the museum from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Parking is located at 902 N. Monroe St.
