Atlanta-based Bharatanatyam performer and FSU alumna Preeti Vinayak collaborates with her daughter and disciple, Nethra Valli Shah, to present “The Curious Curators.” As the title suggests, Preeti hand-selected music to curate and present in this set of choreographies. Compositions by her Guru, Sri M. V. Narasimhachari, and her mother, Nalini Vinayak, were germane to the collection. Unique compositions rendered by world-renowned composers have been skillfully handled to showcase all that Bharatanatyam (a classical dance style of India) has to offer while gently pushing its boundaries.
Preeti and her daughter Nethra share the stage in this debut duet concert where they will run the gamut of emotions from happiness to agony to courage as they handle topics ranging from the Gods to everyday mundane events. Preeti, a fourth generation artist and her daughter, a fifth generation artist, consider themselves keepers of a rich cultural heritage through the medium of dance and proudly curate these gems, turning them into a perfect audio-visual treat.
