Mark J. Fletcher earned his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from FSU and his Master’s in Fine Arts from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He felt his apprenticeship for several years in Japan was like a second Master’s degree. In Japan, he studied sculpture, ceramic design and ink painting (sumi-e).  Mark’s artwork is inspired by his love of nature. His almost daily walks in the Apalachicola National Forest are recorded in drawings and detailed observations in many sketchbooks. From those notes, he recreates his experiences in larger artworks. Mark has taught art at 5 colleges and universities. In addition to teaching at the Tallahassee Museum and Tallahassee Senior Center, he sells his artworks through the LeMoyne Center for the Arts, and art festivals in the Southeast under the name Turtle Hill Studio.
