Renesito Avich, one-man band from Cuba

Presented by Cross-Cultural Coalition of South Side Tallahassee, Inc. at Railroad Square Art District

Renesito Avich is a wonder to see and hear!  A Florida Folklife funding recipient, Avich visits us from his hometown in Santiago, Cuba.  See him on the Athena Garden Stage in Railroad Square from 9-10 pm on Sat. Sept. 29th.  According to his website, Avich is an "exponent of the Tres guitar in Cuba. Winner of several national competitions: Festival Contest “Ignacio Piñeiro”, “Cubadisco Award 2011″, “Competition Ignacio Villa AHS” 2013. Gold Title of the University of the Arts of Cuba. Cubadisco 2014 Award with the production Jóvenes Treseros de Cuba (Young Tres players of Cuba).  He uses expressive resources of Classical music, Jazz and World Music. Its roots lead him to recreate and develop melodies, rhythms, styles and rhythms of the Trova, the Changüí Nengón, the Conga, Rumba and Son Santiago, making a kind of journey through the different playing styles of eastern Cuba..."
