She creates her mixed media works in a powerful linear fashion. Artist Mika Fowler will be presenting his photo collage works incorporating unique glimpses at the human figure. This exhibition will run from Friday, October 5th to Saturday, October 27th at LeMoyne Arts with the opening reception on Friday, October 5th. Doors will open at 5:00pm-6:00pm for LeMoyne Arts members preview and to the public from 6:00pm-8:30pm.

Exhibiting Artists

Mika Fowler is a local Tallahassee artist who has been engaged in the art of photography since the 1970s. Fowler attended classes at the University of South Florida, Northwest Pacific Graphics Workshop, Mane Media Workshops, and the New Grounds Studio Workshops to further his craft. His photographs are rich in narrative and are often inspired by literature, psychotherapy and art history. He has also created commercial images for the Florida Humanities Council, Esquire Magazine and several other national publications during his career. Despite his notable publications, Fowler’s work has rarely exhibited because of the nature and content of his photographs. He notes that some exhibitions “fail to meet the rigidly fixed notions of bourgeois capitalism and they do not promote the idea that art should be expressed in a fixed or given mode nor do they embrace the visual ideology familiar to academics or critics.” He currently owns and operates a small letterpress and printmaking studio in Tallahassee, where he lives quietly with his wife and dog.

donalee pond-Koenig is an artist who delves into the fundamentals of drawing within her work. This central concept allowed pond-Koenig to expand into mediums which include acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media with collage of special processed and treated papers. pond-Koenig studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where she majored in book arts and printmaking in the 1970’s. She has had the privilege to display her work in multiple exhibitions such as the Tallahassee Watercolor Society Invitational Showcase (2005) and the “Out of Pocket” Small Art Invitational at the Gadsden Art Center (2005). She produces detailed and tactile drawings that both bring the viewer in close and allows them to step back to enjoy the totality. donalee pond-Koenig says that “it is my hope that this involvement will pass on to the viewer some of the emotions that have helped me to create each individual piece.”
