Oya is a teenager growing up in the projects in Louisiana. As a high school track star, she has the chance to escape poverty with a full scholarship to college, but sacrifices her ambition to stay home to care for her ailing mother. Written by the Academy Award-winning writer of “Moonlight,” this lyrical and intoxicating story explores love, loss, hope and sadness.
