Annual Donor and Members Reception

Presented by John G. Riley Center & Museum of African-American History and Culture at John G. Riley Center/Museum

The John G. Riley Center/Museum and the Capelouto Family will host the Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M at 419 East Jefferson St. Tallahassee, FL 32301. The public is invited to attend the event in support of the museum’s mission to educate, archive, and illuminate the legacy of Mr. Riley’s rich history.

This event is also in celebration of John Gilmore Riley’s 161st Birthday (September 24, 1857). In a special tribute, and support of the daily projects/programs that the Riley Center/Museum provides, a CAPITAL MEMBERSHIP campaign has been put into place with a goal to increase memberships to 600 by December 31, 2018.

For the occasion, another Riley Signature publication “The Proctors-In Their Own Words” will be released. The publication shares history about one of Tallahassee’s prominent pioneer African American families and their contributions to local and state history. This is also a time for the public to view the museum’s current exhibit, Gullah Geechee “Making Do.”

Members are encouraged to bring a non-member to the event and subscribe to become a John Gilmore Riley Center/Museum member and friend.

We look forward to your presence to enjoy the history, cuisine, entertainment and fellowship.

Free parking is available in the lot next to the Riley House. Contact the Riley House if further information is needed: showard@rileymuseum.org or call (850) 681-7881.
