Free hands-on science activities for families with elementary and middle school aged children!
Join us at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, for our new monthly program: Backyard Discovery at The Grove!
Backyard Discovery connects you to the natural and cultural history of the site through hands-on science activities. September's program is I'm Lichen It! Visitors will learn to distinguish between lichens and mosses and discover the roles that lichens play in nature. Together, we will search for unique lichens at The Grove, learn how lichens can predict air pollution, and discover why some lichens glow under UV light.
This program is designed for families with elementary and middle school aged children, but all are welcome to participate. Be prepared to be outdoors, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring along sunscreen and bug spray.
Backyard Discovery at The Grove is free and open to the public.
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds after the program, and tour the museum from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Parking is located at 902 N. Monroe St.
