Unity 14: Celebrating the Arts in Education

Presented by The Tallahassee Community Chorus at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

Join us as we recognize the importance of the arts in education by featuring our favorite art form – the choral arts! Prepare to be awestruck at the quality of musicianship of our invited award-winning school choirs. We are excited to present them to you, performing works chosen by them. The Tallahassee Community Chorus will close this concert with a performance of the triumphant Song of Democracy by Howard Hanson. This work sets two poems by Walt Whitman, “An Old Man’s Thoughts of School,” and “Thou Mother with Thy equal brood,” and was composed by Hanson to be performed with orchestra. Ruby Diamond will be filled with voices raised in song.

Our Community Partner for this concert is Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend. Please support them by donating household items (kitchen, bath, laundry) or making a monetary donation, in the lobby of the Concert Hall.
