Jim Miller: Birds of Paradise

Jim Miller: Birds of Paradise

Presented by Gadsden Arts Center & Museum at Gadsden Arts Center & Museum

Jim Miller’s photographs of birds from Florida’s wetlands are exquisite. The images are beautifully composed in value and form, capturing bird life as some of the most elegant designs found in nature while offering a close-up view of the natural lives of these elegant creatures. Miller’s Birds of Paradise photographs will be on view in the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum’s Munroe Family Community Gallery July 3 through August 25, 2018. This exhibition will celebrate its opening reception alongside the 30th Art in Gadsden on July 13th, 6-8pm.

Nearly 20 years ago Jim Miller first experienced the power of high quality super-telephoto lenses and technically sophisticated cameras. The super-telephoto lens allows for photographing subjects like Miller’s birds, previously difficult to study up close and in fine detail, at great distances with sharp clarity. In these images, the artist inserts himself within the birds’ private spaces without notice, offering a close-up experience with wild Florida birds in their natural habitats.

Jim Miller has been working in photography for over twenty years and his work has been exhibited in multiple juried exhibitions throughout Florida and Georgia. His photographs have also been featured in On View Magazine and Photographer in Focus.
