International Folktales with Dr. Christie Koontz

International Folktales with Dr. Christie Koontz

Presented by My Favorite Books at My Favorite Books

Dr. Koontz is an adjunct professor at FSU where she developed and teaches the Storytelling course for the Master’s in Library and Information Studies.  She has also performed folk tales at the Florida Folk Festival.

We believe in the importance of reading aloud to children and encouraging them to find their love of reading. By holding a weekly Storytime every Sunday at 2pm in our kids’ section we’ll share our love of books. Sunday Stories at My Favorite Books will be different every week; we’ll do a craft, sing a song, have special guests, dress in our pajamas, or who knows! Watch our Facebook page for updates on what will be happening each Sunday. We hope you’ll join us on our journey to encourage and make reading fun!

“We have an obligation to read aloud to our children. To read them things they enjoy. To read to them stories we are already tired of. To do the voices, to make it interesting, and not to stop reading to them just because they learn to read to themselves. Use reading-aloud time as bonding time, as time when no phones are being checked, when the distractions of the world are put aside.” – Neil Gaiman

If you’re interested in reading aloud or have a storybook to recommend, we would love to hear from you. Send us a Facebook message, email us at staff@myfavoritebooksllc.com, or give us a call 850-668-7498.
