For our June Book-of-the-Month Club, in celebration of Pride Month, Midtown Reader will be reading Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and great conversation.
Fun Home is a celebrated memoir and graphic novel - a coming of age classic, and family story. This is our first ever graphic novel book club! Join us on June 26th for a discussion led by Midtown Reader staff member Hannah Beth. We will have the book available at 10% off until the event.
"In this graphic memoir, Alison Bechdel charts her fraught relationship with her late father.
Distant and exacting, Bruce Bechdel was an English teacher and director of the town funeral home, which Alison and her family referred to as the Fun Home. It was not until college that Alison, who had recently come out as a lesbian, discovered that her father was also gay. A few weeks after this revelation, he was dead, leaving a legacy of mystery for his daughter to resolve."
