Del Suggs & Friends, with special guest Brian Bowen

Del Suggs & Friends, with special guest Brian Bowen

Presented by Monticello Opera House at Monticello Opera House

Known for his contemporary “Saltwater Music,” Del Suggs is recognized as one of the founders of the “Trop Rock” (tropical rock) genre which has been popularized by Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney, and Zac Brown. Joining Del is Jerry Thigpen (guitar & vocal), Pete Winter (bass & vocal), and Danica Winter (percussion & vocal). Brian Bowen will kick off the evening performing songs from his latest recording “Ten Mile Smile.”

While his voice and his music are equally unique, and his songs are heard around the world, it's his live performance that really shines. Suggs is the epitome of a performer; his show is exciting, warm, funny, and meaningful without getting too deep.

Del is an award-winning ASCAP songwriter, and was named one of “Top Five Performers of the Past 25 Years” by Campus Activities magazine. The recent book “Trop Rock Songs: Stories and Tales” by Andy Forsyth devotes a full chapter to Del and his music. His songs are frequently covered by other Trop Rock artists-- in fact his song “Magic Chair” was the title track John Reno's third album, and is featured on Skip Crowther's latest release.
