The Tallahassee Civic Chorale’s spring concert, entitled The Elements, will include beautiful and unique songs about each of the four basic elements which are so important to all of us: Earth, Fire, Wind and Water.
For this concert, the Chorale is partnering with Sustainable Tallahassee and the Leon County Office of Sustainability
The earth section includes Don MacDonald’s beautiful song “When the Earth Stands Still”; the fire section includes Stephen Paulus’s haunting song “Hymn to the Eternal Flame” and the lively Colombian song “Juego a que me quemo”; and the wind section includes J. D. Frizzell’s melodic song “If I Could See You, Wind”. The concert concludes with the water section, represented by Bob Chilcott’s The Miracle of the Spring, which celebrates the pursuit and eventual discovery of water. This uplifting work includes an array of moods and styles that convey the essence of the text by Charles Bennett, from the rhythmic motifs depicting the parched landscape to the flowing aleatoric fragments suggesting the gushing of the spring.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, and free for TCC students.
