Two short silent films from the earliest days of Charlie Chaplin’s and Buster Keaton’s respective careers, with live accompaniment by pianist Jack Quine
Features:
One Week (1920) with Buster Keaton
The Vagabond (1916) with Charlie Chaplin
The Vagabond echoed Chaplin's better-known The Tramp, with more of a tragi-comical storyline. The scenes where Chaplin plays violin for his new friend are especially touching.
One Week was the first film Keaton made without his friend Fatty Arbuckle. Sybil Seely co-stars as his new bride. In 2008, One Week was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
Local piano man Jack Quine will play our 100-year-old piano in a fitting accompaniment to these short silent films, and expect a couple of additional "foley" sound effects from the percussion section!
