Photography exhibition which strives to preserve the musical traditions of the South by directly supporting the musicians who make it, ensuring their voices will not be silenced by poverty and time.
Kick off Thomasville Center for the Arts' DUE SOUTH festivities with We Are the Music Makers! -- a photography exhibition at the Center's Studio 209. Curated by The Music Maker Relief Foundation, the exhibit strives to preserve the musical traditions of the South by directly supporting the musicians who make it, ensuring their voices will not be silenced by poverty and time. The exhibition (and complimentary book and album) gives future generations access to their Southern heritage through documentation and performance programs that build knowledge and appreciation of America’s musical traditions.
An opening reception will take place on Friday, April 6 from 6-8 pm at 209 West Remington Ave. The opening is free and open to the public, and guests are also invited to enjoy the City of Thomasville's First Friday concert at the adjacent amphitheater featuring artists from the Music Makers repertoire. The exhibition runs all month.
