How the Tallahassee Museum began a campaign years ago focused on making changes that hoped to be transformative to the Museum, but were started with a transactional mindset.
Russell Daws is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Tallahassee Museum, an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with volunteer governance committed to excellence in education, historic preservation, recreation, and conservation.
Prior to his arrival in Tallahassee, Mr. Daws served in several leadership positions with the oldest continually run natural history museum in the U.S., the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia where he worked for 15 years. He serves on numerous boards including the Florida Association of Museums (President 2008-2010; 1996-1998), the Leon County Tourist Development Council (Past Chairman), and the Big Bend Scenic Byway Corridor Management Entity. Mr. Daws was the 2010 recipient of the Thomas A. Waits Distinguished Leadership Award.
