After lunch at SoHo Restaurant on Broad St we’ll explore a seldom seen historic townhome on South Broad St that is full of vintage art with a secret European garden. We’ll learn about gardening tips from former Maclay Gardens, Beth Weidner.
Through partnerships with community organizations our Backrooms/Backroads series will bring art, history, nature, and people together in conjunction with Thomasville's monthly Sip and Stroll events that fall on the first Friday. Activities will offer local residents and tourists unique opportunities to peek into fascinating hidden pockets and private places that abound around the Georgia-Florida border for under $50 a day.
After a social lunch at SoHo Restaurant on Broad St we will explore a seldom seen historic townhome on South Broad Street that is full of vintage art and a secret high-style European garden. Our host, Ron Ernst, a collector of vintage art has invited us to his circa 1890 townhome and will showcase some of his large vintage sporting and landscape collections. Ron will share his passion for classic Florida paintings, including works of some of the Highwaymen on display. Our guest speaker Beth Weidner, the former director of Maclay Gardens, will talk about the fine points of Ron’s gorgeous secret garden behind his home and give you tips for your own back yard. This Pines & Palms event is sponsored by CNS.
