April Story Slam - "Resurrection" Theme

Midtown Reader hosts a Story Slam on the first Thursday of each month from 6:00-7:00 pm. We are now accepting submissions for the April event; authors will be chosen by anonymous selection to read their work in the store. This month's theme is "Resurrection"

We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Tallahassee Writers' Association and local talent to bring you a night of terrific fiction and nonfiction!

WRITERS: Please use the following criteria for all submissions:

*Times New Roman/12 pt font/1”margins/double-spaced
*600 words or less
*Fiction or Nonfiction
*Due the last Thursday of the month (this month's deadline: March 29th)
*If selected, must be available to read the evening of April 5th.
*Name should not appear anywhere on the submission itself.
* Please include a brief cover letter within the email.

Sean Towey, FSU creative writing Ph.D. candidate, will be emceeing our Story Slams and helping select our writers/readers each month. Sean Towey has work published or forthcoming in the Chicago Quarterly Review, Sport Literate, the minnesota review, Hobart, Word Riot, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. He was a semi-finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award at Black Lawrence Press. He is working on a PhD in English/Creative Writing at Florida State University, where he was the recipient of a 2016 Emerging Writer Award, chosen by Debra Monroe. He serves as the Online Editor for Southeast Review. Sean is represented by Mark Gottlieb at Trident Media. He grew up in Tacoma, and he currently lives in Tallahassee with his wife Erin and daughter Evelyn.

We hope to see writers and readers alike come out to this event to support local talent and help the Tallahassee literary scene to grow!
