Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters will perform at Jan’s Gallery, 645 McDonnell Dr., RR Square, Tall 32310, from 7:30-10 pm on Weds. March 21st ($5 cover); zydeco dance lessons at 7 pm.
An authentic Zydeco band from Lake Charles, La. and Waco, Tx. will perform for us Wednesday evening on their way to the Florida keys. Zydeco is the music and dance of the Creoles of Southwest Louisiana and East Texas. The distinguishing instruments are the accordion and the frottoir (washboard, or rubboard). Its roots are in the French music of the Louisiana Territory and the blues of southern African-Americans. The dance style is similar to salsa, in that the female partner follows the lead of the male. Join us for Zydeco dance lessons at 7 pm and listen to the music from 7:30 to 10 pm. $5 cover. Drinks served (no byob).
$5 cover at the door (open at 7 pm)
