Historical Fiction Book Signing

Presented by My Favorite Books at My Favorite Books

George Bauer, an author and broadcast journalist who lives in Thomasville, will be signing his latest, a historical novel on America’s Worst Wildfires titled Peshitgo.

On October 8, 1871, cataclysmic wildfires charred nearly four million acres of land on both sides of Northern Wisconsin’s Green Bay. Bauer’s book brings the 19th Century tragedy to life and introduces people who lived and worked in the forests, farms, fields, and factories of those rural Wisconsin and Michigan towns. Some survived the flames and smoke while others perished in the fires. It remains the largest loss of life from fire in U.S. history. Still, the story of Peshtigo is unknown to many, as it occurred on the same day of the Great Chicago Fire.

R.D. Wall served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets, and the Mekong Delta and coastal waters of Vietnam. He will be signing copies of his second, recently released book, Mekong Covenant, which follows Jonah Wynchester across the Western Pacific into Vietnam where his ship confronts an enemy several times its strength in the deadly brown waters of the Mekong Delta. Not just a novel of war, but an evocative hymn of the timeless struggle between moral virtue and malevolence, friend and foe, war and peace. Mekong Covenant is the second book in the Jonah Wynchester Series of Vietnam War Novels.
