The Junction at Monroe presents Pierce Pettis, Grace Pettis, and Grant Peeples

The Junction at Monroe is continuing its tradition of bringing world class live music acts to Tallahassee with a show on Friday, March 16th featuring 3 national touring singer-songwriters with Tallahassee roots, Pierce and Grace Pettis (father and daughter) and Grant Peeples.

Pierce Pettis, adored by both critics and public alike, is one of this generation's most masterful songwriters. His music is distinguished by his uncanny ability to capture universals in human experience by drawing on the humor and trials in daily life.  Pettis lived for a number of years in Tallahassee where he attended Florida State University, and honed his craft, playing in local music venues and honkey tonks, including a restaurant called ‘Grant’s Ribs’, owned and operated at the time by Grant Peeples, the very same troubadour sharing the Junction stage with him. Pettis has performed in all 48 continental states as well as in Canada and Europe, appeared nine times on American Public Radio's Mountain Stage, been featured on National Public Radio's E-town, Morning Edition and World Cafe ... appeared on VH-1, CBS News, and the Nashville Network.

In her short career, daughter Grace Pettis has already lived up to her birthright, winning numerous songwriting awards (Kerrville New Folk Contest; NPR's Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, etc.) and garnering praise from critics, fans, and industry alike.  What sets her apart in her talented family is her distinct, unaffected voice, described as a "wide open prairie, full of waving golden grains before menacing, dark thunder clouds" (Sirius XM Program Director, Mary Sue Twohy).

Tallahassee born and bred Grant Peeples also has prestigious songwriting credits under his belt. He was chosen as a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Songwriter’s Competition in 2016, and in 2014 was the recipient of the Focus Foundation Award for Creative Excellence, which cited the “humor, compassion and wisdom of his songs,” as well as their "unflinching social insight and cultural acuity.” Peeples has toured the US from the east coast to the west, playing at such distinguished venues as The Triple Door in Seattle, The Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, New York’s Living Room, and Eddie’s Attic in Decatur GA.  Peeples is also a poet and visual artist and will release two books of poetry this spring.

The show starts at 8 pm at The Junction at Monroe, located at 2011 South Monroe St. in Tallahassee.
